Please read and share this devastating testimony by a fired UCSC graduate student-worker who is 8 months pregnant and, as a result, uninsured in the middle of a global pandemic. #cola4all#spreadthestrike#boycott4colahttps://ucscfog.org/2020/03/13/testimonials/?fbclid=IwAR04LltF20TGo5qJQdiitqdj0dlV5kE2TAFqLcP6_gXlbhyhAACwcfJGdtY…
1) It is important that people have access to Zoom and Canvas, but do you know how this information is being used? During the strike, Admin introduced a "tattle-bot" on Canvas, where students could report on faculty directly in the case of "changes" to the course.
3) How can we protect picket lines when they've gone digital? Already the admin has claimed that talks actually canceled because of the strike were due to the virus. It seems that withholding labor may not be enough; we also need work to control the narratives around that labor.
4) What about students who have nowhere to go (or eat)? Those who are still being asked to work on campus (or have kids/elderly family at home)? About taking away health care from the most vulnerable at the current time (@payusmoreucsc )? About mental health services?
